Location Lists

Custom Location Lists can be set up to add to your search boxes.

Custom location lists can be set up to add to your search boxes. This ensures that customers can only search for locations that you specify in your list(s). This tool is located under "More Tools" > "Location Lists" in your Travelify account.

You can set up seperate lists for origins and destinations and reuse them across multiple different searchboxes if requires. There is no limit to the number of location lists you can create, so you can set up different lists for different purposes (e.g. destination landing pages).



When you create a new list, there are two different types of location:

1. Parent Location - this is a parent that is not searchable, but contains a list of additional parents or searchable locations. You can have locations up to 3 levels deep.
2. Searchable Location - this is a location that a customer can select to be able to perform a search

Start by creating a new list and giving it a name (this name is for your own reference only, it is not displayed on the front end).

You can now add your first parent location and give this a name (e.g. Spain) - this will be shown on the front end to the customer in any location menus in the searchbox:

You will now see the new parent appear in the list below.

Now you will need to add child locations to that parent, so click on the 3-dotted line icon under the actions column.

You can add another parent location under this (eg. Balearic Islands) that will contain the searchable locations, or you can add searchable locations at this level, it all depends on how you want to structure your locations.

Click on Add Searchable Location and you will be presented with a new popup containing 2 fields.



Start by typing the location in the second box (Search Location) - this is an autocomplete of our geographical database. If you are unable to find the location you want to search, please open a support ticket to let us know and we can add new locations in for you. Once you click on the location from the autocomplete, it will fill in both fields for you.

The top field (Location Name/Alias) can be changed to the text you want the customer to see in your searchbox - you can either keep it as-is or change it to something else (see the example below where it has been shortened to just "Barcelona" rather than our full location details).

Save this location and carry on adding locations as you wish.

Once you have finished adding your locations to the list (you can always come back and add more at a later date - they will automatically update across all searchboxes that use them), return to the Location Lists page as you will need the List ID shown on this page to add to your searchbox(es). In the example below, you will see the List ID of 92.

To add your new location list to your searchbox, either create a new travel searchbox widget, or edit an existing one.

In the first tab of settings, you will see a "Location Settings" button (see below) - click on that to get the location settings popup.

Depending on whether you want to set an origin or destination location list will depend on what you have created - each is controlled seperately so you can use 2 different lists.

Change the Type dropdown to "Custom (list id)" as shown below and enter the List ID into the fields that now appear.
